Neowin.net援引消息人士的话报道称，微软将于4月底前向少数测试人员发布“escrow build”版Windows 7 RC。根据微软的说法，“escrow build”版软件面向测试人员发布，供测试人员对性能或缺陷进行最后检测。
微软尚未公布Windows 7 RC发布日期。上周，盗版Windows 7 build 7057现身P2P下载网站，其最终用户协议中出现了“Release Candidate 1”。
尽管微软没有承诺将向公众发布Windows 7 RC，但Windows技术集团高级副总裁斯蒂芬·斯诺夫斯凯曾多次暗示微软将向公众发布Windows 7 RC。另有消息称，Windows build 7061版出现在下载网站上。
